I’m very lucky that I have friends of all ages. I have been told it makes me a little unusual. My oldest friend is Colin, he’s 87. My youngest friend is Jack. He’s 21.
Among my younger friends, Stephen and Karin came to the Legion when they were eighteen. A quick bit of maths – on their part, not mine (I don’t indulge in recreational mathematics) – showed them that I was technically old enough to be their mother.
And with that, every year Stephen sends me a card addressed ‘To My Lovely Mum’, and Karin sends one ‘To Grandma’.
Cheeky buggers. I adore them.
(Yes, it’s my birthday.)
