When my Dad was a young man, he wore a bit of jewellery. Not a huge amount, but he had a gold St Christopher, a large gold watch, and I seem to remember a pinkie ring. As he grew older, the St Christopher found its way into a box and the ring on his little finger was swapped out for a wedding band.

One thing he always had, though, was a large selection of cufflinks. I don’t know whether men really bother with cufflinks much these days. I’m in the wrong category to keep up with these things, but I’m pretty sure my Dad had half a dozen shirts with loose cuffs, and a veritable cavalcade of cufflinks.

I don’t have any particular memory assigned to any particular pair of my Dad’s cufflinks.

I just like looking at them sometimes.
