This slim guide book on how to give effective presentations to an audience is brilliant. Jam-packed with useful hints and tips, it’s hugely reassuring to the novice public speaker, or to the professional looking to up their game.
There are lots of words of encouragement throughout the book, which are bound to help the reader’s confidence:
“An audience is not a barrier to success, and it need not be intimidating. It is made up of people who are ready to hear what you have to say, and you can always use that to your advantage.”
P 19, Give Great Presentations by Lucinda Becker
With information on PowerPoint, as well as other slide packages, as well as ideas about handouts, body language and rehearsals, there are many instances in the text where the author congratulates the reader for the progress their making and, oddly enough, it really helps. There’s a lot of information which is really well-presented but, best of all, the author never loses sight of her audience – which is the reader.
A very useful guide and my side-career sorted.
