⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

In this, the second instalment of the Fortune’s Daughter’s Trilogy, we follow the story of Eve – an architect and the youngest daughter of a now deceased film star, raised in opulence and privilege, who has only recently discovered that her family background is rather more complicated that might have been assumed.

As Eve finds herself flagging in her relationship, treading water in her career and struggling with a terrible secret that could destroy what remains of her family, she travels to Washington Island for work, and meets three people who could change her life forever.

Really beautifully told, this story is packed with detail, believable characters, wonderful imagery and some very funny lines. I hadn’t actually read the first part of the story when I picked this book up, but it works perfectly well as a standalone novel.

That said, I fully intend to set off in search of Private Lives (Fortune’s Daughters Trilogy #1) now.

Recommended.
