The story follows 12-year-old Gaby. Living in a small apartment with her mother and brother, while grieving the loss of her father, Gaby’s life changes completely when a man is gunned down outside the local food bank and she decides to become a superhero.
Aided by a grown-up sidekick, a pair of nunchucks and a nickname she would never have chosen for herself, the criminal underworld of Seattle is no longer in control, and they know it. But how long will it be before the Ninja Girl is unmasked, and will she be able to keep her family safe?
What a brilliant book. I had to pace myself though because, left unchecked, I would have read it in one sitting. Compulsive reading with wonderfully colourful characters, a great storyline and, although a book for younger readers, I just loved it (I just turned 38).
Recommended.
