The story follows TaMia, a highly successful marketing executive whose place of work is suddenly and unceremoniously closed by the FBI. Having grown tired of the marketing world and the lack of representation she sees day after day, TaMia is looking forward to a change. Her boyfriend, Davin, is less enthusiastic.
Having grown used to his girlfriend looking and behaving a certain way – conforming so as not to cause him embarrassment – he is less than thrilled when TaMia expresses an interest in running a food truck in preparation for her entry to the world of the professional restaurateur. Even when she wants to visit her family, including her delightful and elderly grandmother, MaDear, he seems put out. But when she returns to her family home, what secrets will TaMia unearth, and will she learn to live as herself with or without Davin?
I really enjoyed the dynamic and modern writing style. The dialogue was comfortable and felt friendly and familial. The story was really well-crafted and emotionally charged. I really enjoyed the change in my own feelings towards the character of Davin. To begin with, I didn’t like him. Later, I had to wonder what TaMia saw in him. I was delighted when she started to wonder as well.
Looking forward to reading more from this author.
