Fiona Weaver is sixteen years old and growing up in 1970s Ireland. With some guidance from her art teacher, she has decided to write a five year diary which, once completed, she will rip up, reassemble as a self-portrait and exhibit for all the world to see. But, given her age, her mother’s preoccupation with bingo, and the infatuation that threatens to crack her heart in two, the most important thing is that she doesn’t get too personal in her writing.
