How I loved this book.
The story follows Trisha, a TV news editor, stationed in Iraq in 2003. When a new reporter is brought in to join the team, the recently jilted Trisha finds herself immediately, and unsettlingly, drawn to definitely female Alex.
So begins a story that is action-packed, emotionally charged and frankly, stunning. It’s very clear that the author knows the region and the life of a war correspondent incredibly well. The characters are warm and likeable, the relationships well-drawn, the scenery practically rises up out of the page, and the writing is clear and delicate: I enjoyed it a lot.
The only negative for me (and it’s tiny) was that, at various point in the text, where emphasis was required, the author switched between italics, bold type and underlining. It’s a minor irritation when weighed against a book I truly loved.
Now, I just want to know who Sandscribe is…
