Book Review – Blood From a Stone by Rose Madon

Beautifully written, with rich imagery and believable characters. The writing is strong, the writer’s voice is very well-measured – the story moves at a wonderful pace.
Lark has broken up with her cheating boyfriend, a police officer called Andrew, and finds herself on the streets, living in shelters, with only the change in her pocket after he frames her for arson. Totally desperate, Lark replies to an advert for a blood donor and meets Thea, a mysterious and very attractive woman, who, it turns out, is a vampire.
A very piquant love story ensues. The sexy bits are sexy, but they’re not gratuitous as the love that develops between the women feels very real.
I cared about Lark and felt real concern for Thea on the Ferris wheel. I was so pleased with how Andrew’s story concluded. A stunning piece of work. Looking forward to reading more from Rose Madon.
