I’m thinking especially of the theme from Star Trek and the scene in American Horror Story: Coven, when Myrtle Snow uses a theremin and tells Cordelia Goode, “Don’t be a hater, dear.”

The theremin is such a strange piece of kit. Otherworldly, ethereal and bizarre, it’s unlike anything in the world.

I’ve never played one, nor had any reason to be in the same room as one, yet I do think they’re quite magical. And who doesn’t need a bit of that from time to time?
