A little while ago, I showed Bohemian Rhapsody at Movie Night. It proved so popular I scheduled a repeat. This was the first ever second-showing at Movie Night.

And here’s what I learnt: when there are songs that people know, they can’t stop themselves.

Even though everyone is terribly polite, and no one is as drunk as me, they found themselves humming. One or two of them seemed quite shocked by the sounds that emerged from their throats. There were a few small coughs as people sought to control themselves. But frankly, it was a waste of time.

There’s a universality to the music of Queen, it reaches across time and experience and it makes people happy. Queen were, are and always will be, a phenomenal band. And Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.

I love Freddie.
